XML Sitemap Validator — frequently asked questions

Is the XML Sitemap Validator really free?

Yes. The XML Sitemap Validator is free forever on Sada Files — no ads, no premium tier and no account. Server-side fetches have a fair-use rate limit per visitor so the service stays fast for everyone.

Do I need to sign up?

No. There is no account system at Sada Files. Open the page, enter a URL or paste your code, and read the report.

How is the sitemap fetched, and is anything stored?

The sitemap is fetched by our server through an SSRF-safe fetcher: only http and https URLs on public addresses, every redirect re-checked (at most 5), a 10-second timeout and a 5 MB cap, sent with our own user-agent SadaFilesBot/1.0. The XML is analysed in memory and thrown away — nothing is stored or logged, and no cookies are sent.

What does it check?

The <urlset> or <sitemapindex> root and the sitemaps.org namespace, that every <loc> is an absolute http(s) URL on the sitemap's own host, duplicates, W3C lastmod dates, the 50,000-URL and 50 MB limits, plus image and hreflang alternate counts.

Does it follow sitemap indexes?

Yes. For an index it opens up to 10 child sitemaps, reports their status and URL counts, and validates each one.

Does it check the listed pages?

It samples 20 URLs spread evenly across the sitemap and requests each one, five at a time, flagging pages that are broken (4xx/5xx) or redirect — a sitemap should list only final, indexable URLs.
