Robots.txt Tester — frequently asked questions
Is the Robots.txt Tester really free?
Yes. The Robots.txt Tester is free forever on Sada Files — no ads, no premium tier and no account. Server-side fetches have a fair-use rate limit per visitor so the service stays fast for everyone.
Do I need to sign up?
No. There is no account system at Sada Files. Open the page, enter a URL or paste your code, and read the report.
Is my robots.txt uploaded in paste mode?
No. Paste mode parses and tests the file entirely in your browser. Fetch mode asks our server to download https://your-site/robots.txt through the SSRF-safe fetcher (public addresses only, 10 s, 5 MB, nothing stored).
Which matching rules does it follow?
The rules of RFC 9309, which Google and Bing use: the most specific user-agent group applies, the longest matching path wins, Allow wins a tie, * matches any run of characters and $ anchors the end of the URL. /robots.txt itself is always allowed.
Which user-agents can I test?
Any. Without one we test Googlebot, Bingbot, GPTBot and the * group together so you see the differences at a glance.
What problems does it flag?
Rules before any User-agent line, lines without a colon, paths that do not start with /, a * group that blocks the whole site, a missing Sitemap line, relative sitemap URLs, Crawl-delay (ignored by Google), noindex in robots.txt (unsupported) and files larger than 500 KiB.
