Lighthouse SEO & Performance Audit — frequently asked questions

What is Google Lighthouse?

Lighthouse is Google's open-source auditing engine that loads a page in a controlled headless browser and scores it across performance, accessibility, best practices, and SEO, returning concrete opportunities and diagnostics for each category.

How is this different from an on-device check?

A full Lighthouse run needs a real headless Chrome instance, so this audit executes on our servers against the public URL you provide, then returns the structured JSON report. No browser extension or install is required on your side.

What do the scores mean?

Each category is scored from 0 to 100. A score of 90 or above is considered good (green), 50 to 89 needs improvement (orange), and below 50 is poor (red). Scores are weighted aggregates of the individual audits.

Which device profile should I test?

Mobile is the default because Google indexes mobile-first and throttles the simulated network and CPU to reflect typical handsets. Switch to desktop when you specifically want to measure the desktop experience.

Is my URL stored or tracked?

No. The URL is fetched only to run the audit and the report is streamed back to you. Nothing about the request is logged, stored, or tracked, and no sign-up is required to use it for free.
